Protecting our environment and minimizing our shops impact to the environment is a priority here at MD Automotive.  We are constantly striving to improve current practices and come up with new ideas to help protect the environment and minimize waste.  We encourage other shops and industry related businesses to follow our go-green practices and do their part to minimize the effects the automotive repair industry has on our planet. The following are many of the practices we implement in our go-green effort.

-Waste oil is picked up and recycled by Rapid Environmental Serves oil services.  They basically turn the waste oil into a form of fuel that can be used as an energy source to power generators, etc. and is sold to large corporations.

- Rapid Environmental Serves also recycles the antifreeze by blending it into the oil that is burned as an energy source.

-With the use of a Systems One machine we purchased several years ago, it is possible for us to recycle solvent used in our shop for parts clean up.

-Metal is picked up and sent to a local metal recycler for proper recycling and disposal.

-Cardboard is separated, saved and picked up for recycling, minimizing the waste of woodlands.

-While performing any air conditioner repairs or maintenance we are able to capture the freon and recycle it.

-Individually packaged material such as fluids is kept to a minimum.  Whenever possible we purchase items in bulk, thus reducing the amount of containers we have to recycle.

-Oil filters are drained of the majority of fluid and stored in a steel container for pick up and off-site recycling.

-Tires, batteries and lead wheel weights are picked up and sent for recycling at off-sites recyclers.

- While we don't use much glass here, we do from time to time replace a window glass or mirror.   We have a local windshield glass shop that recycles replaced glass.  Automotive glass is different from typical glass bottles because it it’s laminated and the recycle process is a little more involved.

-For our office we purchase recycled paper and printer cartridges are saved for recycling.
